On Saturday 25th February 2023, the Tatsfield Fairtrade Group held a Fairtrade Lunch Event in the welcoming setting of the WI Hall. The menu consisted of delicious recipes from Yasmin Khan's wonderful Zaitoun Recipe book: Butternut squash and lentil soup, Hummus, Aubergine Dip and flatbreads followed by the most fabulous sticky date pudding or bananas with honey and yogurt.
An informative talk from Moyna Bridge about the impact on some Fairtrade producers that she has visited in Bolivia and India reminded the packed hall of all the positive reasons for buying Fairtrade. Villagers were keen to purchase items from Moyna's Fairtrade stall which carried a wide range of food items and craft from around the world. Bamboo socks and chocolate from Divine always sell well. The Zaytoun dates and Za'atar and Olive Oil that we used in our recipes were popular too. Moyna also stocks the chickpeas and lentils that we used from JTS. This was our first Fortnight in person event since the Covid 19 pandemic. We would like to thank the Co-op in Biggin Hill for donating our raffle prizes of wine and chocolate which helped to get the event off to a happy and convivial start. |
